Summer Reading

Many people get to read during the summer months more so than the rest of the year. Since I'm a writer, book reviewer, and book club leader, I read A LOT. Many people ask me about what book they should read next. I have compiled a list of some summertime reading ideas. These are all books I have read and enjoyed. Go to the book link tabs if you see anything that interests you for a direct link to Amazon for purchase. These are in no particular order, simply the order I pulled them off my shelf. I read a lot of Christian fiction. If you know of any good books that I should read, please leave me the title and the author in the comments. I am always on the lookout for a good book!

Take advantage of the summer months and spend some of that time engrossed in a good book.

  1. OK - here goes:

You mentioned A Rush of Wings, by Kristen Heitzmann. If you haven't read the sequel The Still of Night, then you need to. You will need to be sure to have a box of tissues with you! There is another book in that series, The Breath of Dawn - also very good. I've read pretty much everything by her as well. Her very first series weren't as good, but after that I like them all.

Anything by Dee Henderson, although the O'Malley series and the Uncommon Heroes series (especially True Devotion) are my favorites.

Anything by Susan May Warren (although the Daughters of Fortune series is harder to read because the tragedy is so heart wrenching and there's usually not just one)

Tamera Alexander - I like pretty much anything by her.

Linda Windsor - Along Came Jones & It Had to be You (humorous); Maire-#1, Riona-#2, & Deirdre-#3

Carol Umberger - The Circle of Honor-#1, The Price of Freedom-#2, The Mark of Salvation-#3, & The Promise of Peace-#4

You can see my ratings for these, and many others, on Goodreads.

Monday Meditations - Ambivilence

Ambivalence Oh, how this word defines us as humans! We are ambivalent about so many things. We are wishy-washy. We can't seem to make up our minds about anything. Just look at a woman's bedroom after she has gotten dressed. The pile of clothes on the bed tells us that dress is the wrong color, that one is uncomfortable, today's the wrong mood for that one, that one isn't appropriate for the situation, that one doesn't fit anymore… I've known women that can't make up their minds about who they want to date. Some can't make up their minds about which women they truly want to be friends with. College students enter the university with one major and come out with another, yet work in a completely different third field. Couples get married only to find out shortly after the wedding that marriage (or the person they chose in the first place) isn't really right for them I could go on with examples of how we have mixed feelings, unc
